to the things that you once believed in. . .
Twenty-four years ago, five talented young musicians gave their hearts and music to Jesus. Love Song was born. Almost overnight, their music became the soundtrack of a cultural revolution that shook church doors off their hinges. It was a new day for the Bride of Christ. The Church didn't know what hit it. And thank God, the Church never got over it!
Today the music of Love Song evokes strong memories for those of us who are products of the Jesus movement. When we hear these songs we remember summertime...a concert in a barn in Fresno...church in a tent in Costa Mesa... and hand-made leather bible covers. We remember thousands of kids rushing into waters of baptism like foam chasing waves back into the ocean - a corporate burial at sea for the "old man" who had been crucified with Christ.
We remember VW vans.. coffee houses... bare feet... and never having enough money, but somehow always getting by. But most of all, we remember friends getting saved.
From time to time it is important for us to come back to the things that we once believed in. We find that we still believe them, but in a deeper way. They are foundational to what we have become. The classic songs on this recording are some of those things that we once believed in...and believe in to this day. They have been given a fresh spin at the hands of some of the finest musicians in the world - many of whom came to Christ when these songs were new! We are certain that as you listen, memories will come back to you of the things that you once believed in. Embrace them with all your heart.
For those who did not grow up with these songs and were not a part of the Jesus movement, you may be wondering what you missed. It's not so much what you didn't hear...it's what you didn't feel.
